Enable Left/Righ Hand Installation

You have to enable your keypad to operate your Brinks Digital Deadbolt electronically when you have installed it the first time or reset it to default settings. You need to electronically enable the Left or Right-Hand installation to make it work. 

You can enable left or right-hand door installation using these steps:

  • Enter the default Programming Code and hit the BRINKS button.
  • Hit 0 on the keypad and hit the BRINKS button again.

The process will complete when you can hear the sound of the lock motor, followed by two beeps and two green flashes on the indicator. After this process, you will be able to operate the lock.

Change Default Master Code

You should change your lock’s default Programming Code after installation to avoid unauthorized access and ensure that only the lock owner can make changes to it. Normally, the Brinks electronic lock contains a 4-digit Programming Code that allows its user to make changes to their lock programming.

  • Enter the default Programming Code of Brinks Digital Deadbolt and hit the BRINKS button. Use 0000 as the default Programming Code for your Brinks Digital Deadbolt lock.
  • Hit 4 on the keypad and then hit the BRINKS button.
  • Create a new Programming Code between 4 to 10 digits, enter it, and hit the BRINKS button.

You will notice a beep with a green flash after changing the default Programming Code.

Factory Reset

If you need to factory reset your Brinks Digital Deadbolt, remember that you will lose all User Codes and previously programmed functions on your lock.

The steps to reset your Brinks Digital Deadbolt to its factory default settings are as follows:

  • Remove the battery cover of your deadbolt and look for the R button. 
  • After locating the R button, hit it with an unfolded paper clip or pen for up to five seconds until you hear three long beeps from the lock.

Resetting your lock will erase all your programmed settings and User Codes. You will have to reprogram it again using the preset Programming Code (0000). You will also have to perform right or left door handling detection on your lock to enable the digital keypad.

Add a New User Code

  • Enter the current Programming Code of Brinks Digital Deadbolt and hit the BRINKS button.
  • Hit 9 on your lock’s keypad and then hit the BRINKS button.
  • Create a one-time User Code consisting of 4 to 10 digits, enter it, and hit the BRINKS button.

Delete a User Code

  • Enter the current Programming Code of Brinks Digital Deadbolt and hit the BRINKS button.
  • Hit two on your keypad and then hit the BRINKS button.
  • Enter the User Code you want to delete and hit the BRINKS button.

Delete All User Codes

  • Enter the current Programming Code of Brinks Digital Deadbolt and hit the BRINKS button.
  • Hit 3 on your keypad, and then hit the BRINKS button.

Temporarily Disable User Codes

  • Enter the current Programming Code of Brinks Digital Deadbolt and hit the BRINKS button.
  • Hit eight on your lock’s keypad and hit the BRINKS button again.

Lock/Unlock Functions

You can lock or unlock your Brinks Digital Deadbolt using its mechanical key. However, without the key, you can use the keypad. 

  • You can lock your Brinks Digital Deadbolt using the keypad by hitting the BRINKS button.
  • You can unlock your Brinks Digital Deadbolt using the keypad by entering a valid User Code and hitting the BRINKS button.

Auto-Lock Functions

Auto-Lock Time Delay

You can also change the default time delay of your Brinks digital lock. 

The steps to change the auto-lock time delay on your Brinks digital lock are as follows:

  • Enter the current Programming Code of Brinks Digital Deadbolt and hit the BRINKS button.
  • Hit six on your lock’s keypad and then hit the BRINKS button.
  • Choose your preferred time value between 10 to 99, enter it, and hit the BRINKS button.

Enable/Disable Auto Lock

You should use the auto-lock function as it automatically locks your digital deadbolt after a certain amount of time.

  • Enter the current Programming Code of Brinks Digital Deadbolt and hit the BRINKS button.
  • Hit five on your deadbolt’s keypad and then hit the BRINKS button.

  • Hit 7 on your keypad and then hit the BRINKS button. 

This process will turn off the keypad sound along with the indicator.

What to do if your Brinks Digital Deadbolt is not working

Follow these steps to troubleshoot your Brinks lock if it is not working:

Step 1: If a newly installed or reset Brinks Digital Deadbolt does not work, you will need to let the lock detect door handling for your deadbolt to respond electronically:

  • Enter the default Programming Code of Brinks Digital Deadbolt and hit the BRINKS button.
  • Hit 0 on the keypad and then hit the BRINKS button.

Step 2: If you don’t have issues similar to step 1, your lock’s batteries are most likely at fault. You should check your battery and replace it with a new one if needed.

Step 3: If your lock still doesn’t work after the above two steps, then try the following:

  • Remove one battery from your lock and hit a few buttons.
  • Put the battery back and check your lock.
